Seven RHS invent teams qualified for the 2020 STEAM Tank Regional competition and have earned the privilege of advanced entry into this season's regional qualifiers. The STEAM Tank Innovator Badge represents that our teams have an innovative, creative and entrepreneurial idea that will improve community or global situations and help people live safer, more sustainable and healthier lives. The competition will be virtual this year.
Six teams entered the 2020 STEAM Tank Challenge using projects created in the Applied Engineering Club, and one team submitted work done through Dr. Labowsky's chemistry class. The teams are Solar Power Pet Alarm System, Inhale Rite, Solar Water Portable Sanitizer
Community Food Rescue, Arborist Drone Tree Cutter, Anti Vaping Campaign, and Angled Bike Rack.
The Applied Engineering Club is now working with new members to grow the invention culture at Ridgewood High School and create successful teams of innovators.

About the STEAM Tank Challenge
The
STEAM Tank Challenge, created and sponsored by NJSBA and the U.S. Army, encourages New Jersey’s public school students in the areas of STEAM – science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math.
The competition asks the district teams to invent something new, modify an existing product, or identify a situation or real-world problem that needs resolution. Teams are provided criteria and a panel of experts judge their designs and/or solutions.
