Ridgewood Public Schools Substitute Credential Process

Welcome to Ridgewood Public Schools.  We look forward to having you on our team as a substitute.  To expedite the process please follow the steps below. All required documents are contained within the links.

Note:  The process for obtaining a substitute credential has changed

Please read the following before starting the application:

Determine which school district you want to work for (Ridgewood is school district 4390).

Complete the Criminal History Record check process.  You must apply for your Criminal History Record check and receive the result BEFORE you apply for the substitute credential.  You will need to upload the results when you apply. The system doesn't ask for them specifically, but you will have the opportunity to upload them as an additional document.

Then apply for the Substitute Credential.

Follow the instructions on how to advise your college/university in uploading your transcript.  Transcripts should be sent electronically to [email protected]  A copy should also be sent to me for our records.

Once you have applied, be sure to keep a record of your case number for future reference.  You will need this number if there are any issues.
