Substitute Credential Process
Welcome to Ridgewood Public Schools. We look forward to having you on our team as a substitute.
To expedite the application process, follow the steps below. All required documents are accessible via the embedded links.
Note: The process for obtaining a substitute credential has changed
Before starting the application:
- Determine in which school district you want to work (Ridgewood is school district 4390).
- Complete the Criminal History Record check process. You must apply for your Criminal History Record check and receive the result before you apply for the substitute credential. You will need to upload the results when you apply. The system doesn't ask for them specifically, but you will have the opportunity to upload them as an additional document.
- Then, apply for the Substitute Credential.
Follow the instructions on how to advise your college/university in uploading your transcript. Transcripts should be sent electronically to [email protected]. A copy should also be sent to Ridgewood's Human Resources department for our records.
Once your application is complete, make a copy and keep a record of your case number for future reference. You will need this number if there are any issues.
