Every public school district in New Jersey has a Policy Manual of one sort or another. Board Policies are essentially “philosophy statements” developed or approved by the Board of Education to give direction to its employees, and information to the general public, about how the Board wants the business of the school district to be conducted. The Policy Manual will reflect current legal mandates as well as local District values and priorities. Some Board Policies may have Regulations attached to them, which provide additional implementation detail related to those Policies. It is important that we, as District employees, comply with Board Policies and Regulations in all aspects of our job performance. Because the Policy Manual is so large, though, it is impossible to memorize it in its entirety. The Policy Manual is available and easily accessible through the District website, so please familiarize yourself with it as a resource for guidance, and for responses to questions, you may be asked, about “how things are supposed to work” in our District.
Below you will find a list of particular Policies and Regulations from the Policy Manual that staff members may have more frequent reason to refer to. This list represents only a portion of the full Board of Education Policy Manual. Each Policy and Regulation can be found by clicking on the associated link. If you have questions about any of these Policies or Regulations, please speak with your immediate supervisor.
